About.

Built by two lawyers for the people who work the paper.

The draft sat in the queue for a week. The playbook lived in someone's head.

Every team we worked in ran its negotiations on email and memory. The return draft landed and someone reconstructed the deal from the thread. The positions were consistent only as long as the same person held the pen. We built Leela so the first read, the redline and the record happen on the day the draft arrives, and so the record outlives whoever is on the matter.

What she is

An agent.

Not a helper that suggests, and not a workflow that routes. She takes the brief, does the work and sends it back, in the thread it arrived in. The lawyer decides what goes out.

Founders

Between us: 50 years inside legal teams and legal technology. One of us ran legal functions inside multinational businesses. The other built the software those teams depend on.

Tripti Mody Sheth

Tripti Mody Sheth

Tripti spent 15 years as a commercial lawyer advising on transactions, governance and regulatory work, and was COO of Legal Pundits earlier in her career. At Leela she leads company strategy and customer partnerships. She is the source of the legal judgment in Leela's playbooks: the positions, the fallbacks, and the order in which an experienced lawyer concedes.

Away from the law, she paints and has written a children's book, Warriors of Kurukshetra.

Vivek Durai

Vivek Durai

Vivek is a corporate lawyer who stopped practising and started building. Over two decades he has founded legal and corporate-data products used across the Indian market, including paper.vc and TermSheet. At Leela he leads product and architecture, working directly with legal teams so the system mirrors how a lawyer reasons through a negotiation.

His first attempt at the problem came in 2007: a machine-learning library for contract understanding, built while he was still practising.

Lawyer first

We build for the daily reality of transactional work: the turn deadlines, the vendor paper, the partner who wants the issues list by morning. Not for a demo.

Counsel decides

Leela drafts and proposes. The lawyer decides. Nothing changes the document without a sign-off, and nothing reaches the other side unless you send it.

Confidential by default

Your deals are treated the way you treat them: isolated per matter, encrypted, seen only by your team and never used to train models.
